UNITED SIKHS Organizes Housing Seminar to Empower Students
MISSISSAUGA, ON, September 30 – In a bid to educate and empower the student community, UNITED SIKHS organized a comprehensive housing seminar at triOS x Mohawk College. The event, held on September 29, 2023, saw an impressive turnout of students keen on understanding the intricacies of housing and tenancy.
The seminar was led by esteemed members of UNITED SIKHS, including Ranbir Singh, Manjinder Singh, and Gurbir Singh, who shared their insights alongside the on-campus lawyer, Elee Scarlett. The event covered a wide array of topics including various housing options, the challenges and risks associated with them, valuable suggestions and precautions, available resources, landlord and tenant rights, the UMEED helpline, financial guidance, social network support, and ways to actively engage with the community.
The seminar aimed to provide practical knowledge and support to the attendees, equipping them with essential information for their housing-related decisions.
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response from the students at triOS x Mohawk College,” said Gurbir Singh, Director of Operations at UNITED SIKHS, Canada. “Empowering the youth with knowledge about their housing options and rights is crucial, and we are pleased to have collaborated with the college to make this seminar a success.”
The event was made possible by the generous support of triOS x Mohawk College management that not only provided the venue but also ensured the students were well taken care of by offering complimentary food and beverages. Additionally, the college organized a raffle draw, with winners receiving Presto gift cards, adding an element of excitement to the seminar.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to triOS x Mohawk College for their collaboration and support,” added Gurbir Singh. “Their contribution significantly enhanced the overall experience of the students, making this seminar a memorable and impactful one.”
We are making efforts to empower students with education and engagement, knowledge and awareness. Please continue to support our efforts.
