The Sikh Centennial Gala is the highlight event for the year for Sikhs in Canada. Each year the Sikh Centennial Gala seeks to highlight and honor accomplishments of dynamic, successful individuals who inspire and educate whilst giving back to the community. These individuals serve as role models and positive ambassadors of the Sikh values. “UNITED SIKHS deserves to be recognized for the work they do, helping so many lives across the globe”, said Sikh gala Manraj Mukkar- Centennial Gala Committee Chair

We are humbled to be acknowledged by The Sikh Foundation for our International Humanitarian aid work across the globe. Here are a few personal messages of gratitude from our team who attended the gala.

“Every volunteer makes a special impact in our community. We draw our communities closer together, and show that even the smallest act of kindness can make our country and our world a better place”, said Tanbir Kaur, Director UNITED SIKHS Canada.

“It’s the seva in us that makes us do this, it’s embedded in our blood. Giving back to the community, we need to feed those who are hungry. The satisfaction of helping them, is what motivates me personally to do this regularly at Parc Dale Activity Recreation Centre Walk Shelter, Queen Street West”, said Jaswinder Kaur, UNITED SIKHS – Feed the Hungry Coordinator.

“When we go to the shelter the smiles and excitement we see is why I personally feel we must help. I joined the team three years ago and I plan to continue serving those less fortunate”. Said Harvinder Kaur, UNITED SIKHS – Feed the Hungry coordinator

“It’s in our blood as we do seva it feeds our soul and spirit and it’s the satisfaction you get that is hard to describe. It is seva that takes me closer to my Guru”, said Maninder Singh – Director UNITED SIKHS volunteer

“It is our time, monetary donations and coordination that allows us to do the work we do. Without these three elements we are not able to unite. I sometimes ask myself what am I doing for the community? Am I doing enough? Can I do more? As a Sikh it is our duty tos serve humanity and follow the message of Recognize the Human Race as one”, said Sukhwinder Singh – Director UNITED SIKHS Canada.

“We continue to spread hope into people’s lives who could only see darkness. We give hope to those less fortunate; determined to continue to tackle issues and give a voice to the voiceless. We do this with kindness, we do this with love, we do this with your support”, said Sun Kaur.

On behalf of our global team we would like to thank you for this award as it provides validation that UNITED SIKHS is a channel of good and an agent of change.
